TCPS had nine members present for this investigation and Kelley, the owner of the Palmer, joined us as well. The group split up into three teams and began the investigation at 10:40 PM. A few members from the first team to investigate the basement were touched in two of the different rooms located down there. Several shadows were witnessed by members, including Kelley who saw a shadow pass by one of the doorways to a room. Kelley immediately went to the hallway and called out asking if anyone was there and got no response. If it was indeed an employee that made the shadow, no footsteps were heard coming down the stairs. Other happenings in the basement throughout the night were EMF spikes which correlated with cold spots and one of the rooms becoming darker, battery drainage, and an EMF meter getting responses to questions the investigators were asking.
The main floor did not seem to have much activity noted for this night of the investigation. One team member did experience being touched twice while in the Dining Room and another member from the same group had the sensation of being stabbed in the chest. While investigating the kitchen, all members of this same team felt as though they were being followed down the hallway that leads to the Pub. No activity was reported from the Second Floor.
Two of the three teams had experiences while investigating on the Third Floor. In one room, a team noted that they all heard a growling sound near a window. The team looked out the window to see if any one was outside near the building and did not see any people near that area. This team also experienced camera malfunctions and EMF spikes up to 5.0 as well. The second team to experience activity on the Third Floor had some very interesting phenomena happen in Room 17. We had placed a video camera to record the room for the duration of the investigation and the camera turned off on its own even though, upon turning the camera back on the tape still had time left to record and the battery was fine as it was plugged in to an outlet. At one point, Kelley’s hands were ice cold and she described it as a “menthol feeling” even though no temperature change was noted. The team’s walkie-talkie went off on its own eleven times and none of the other teams in the building experienced walkie malfunctions at the same time. The most interesting activity occurred when the team asked if there were any spirits in the room with them if the ghosts could make the temperature drop. Upon asking this question the team had a temp reading of 60°. Within ten minutes, the temperature in the room had dropped down to 45°. There was also the sound of footsteps heard in the hallway by this room after the temperature dropped. The team checked the hallway to see if any hotel guests were walking around and found the hallway to be empty. It should be noted that TCPS was the only people on that side of the building as any hotel guests staying on the Third Floor were on the opposite end of the hall. The team did not recall hearing any voices at the same time the footsteps were heard.
Final Analysis
TCPS stands by our previous assessments that the Palmer House is indeed haunted.
