Reason for Investigation Request

This property is owned by one of our members. The owners have lived there for 25 years and have "sensed" things within the house and property for many years now. Some of the activity though has escalated within the past year and a half. The main hot spot is reportedly upstairs, where both of the owners have heard the sound of footsteps and other movements even though no one was upstairs. There have been auditory phenomena in the house as well, such as hearing whispering and muffled conversations. Before joining TCPS, the owner has previously done EVP sessions in the house and received very good results from those recordings.

Research and Background on the Property

Through our research we found some discrepancies of when this house was actually built. The Dakota County Property Tax records show the house was built in 1890. However, on a Dakota Co. Plat Map from 1896, the map shows no house on the property at the time. The only known death that occurred in the house was back in 1981, when one of the previous owners died of natural causes. Nothing else significant was found from our research.

Our members went into this investigation without prior details of any activity from this property. Everyone was given a general overview, but no specifics of the paranormal phenomena the owners have witnessed were stated to the group. The owner of the house, who is a member of TCPS, was not present during any time of the actual investigation. We investigated every room of the house except the kitchen/dining room area, which was used as our base camp. The rooms we covered were: the TV room, living room, upstairs bedroom and bathroom, the root cellar, and even outside on the grounds of the property.

All of our evidence was captured in the TV room. Some of the personal experiences from that room include cold spots (definite temperature drop of 9 degrees at one point during the night) and an overwhelming sense of sadness. Some of our members reported the feeling of being watched while investigating the TV room, the upstairs bedroom, and outside. One of the investigators was even touched on her foot while investigating the TV room as well.

Another member reported seeing a red flash in the upstairs bedroom. Thinking it was just a red light from some equipment, he turned on a flashlight to figure out where the flash came from and there was no equipment in the chair or any place near where he saw the red flash just moments before. Two of our investigators experienced camera malfunctions in the TV room. One of the cameras took a picture on its own three times and our picture evidence is actually from one of those occurrences. Eventually the flash from this camera quit working after taking only 15 pictures. The member who owned the camera reported that when she got home from the investigation, the camera worked fine as if nothing was wrong with it previously that night.

Another interesting experience happened upstairs when one of our members was sitting on the bed. While doing some EVP work, our member felt as though someone had leaned over on the bed, as one would do if they were leaning over, putting one hand on the bed, to tell her something. No one else was present in the room except the other member of her group, who was sitting across the room at the time. When we reported this to the owners, the husband stated that he has had that same experience on numerous occasions at night while lying in bed.

Final Analysis

Between the evidence gathered and personal experiences that happened during our investigation, we do believe there is legitimate paranormal activity on this property. We are hoping to do another investigation at this location in the fall of this year during the owner’s business slow period.
