Reason for Investigation Request

This case was brought to us through our website. The owner of the property contacted us regarding the activity he and his family – wife and fifteen year old step daughter – had experienced in the house for years. The husband, who is our main client contact, has only lived on the property for two and a half years. The wife and step daughter have resided at this location for over twelve years. The owner states he knows of two previous owners of the house and they had reported various activities as well. The site is a duplex and a friend of the family lives on the opposite side and too has accounts of activity.

Most of the activity seems to center around the owner and step daughter. The first experience the owner had in the house happened in the summer of last year. He stated he was sitting in a chair in one of the rooms upstairs and he felt like he was slapped in the back of the head, although no one else was in the room with him at the time. Other physical interactions have occurred when the owner was walking out of their bedroom and he said it felt like someone yanked on his ankle (no pets around when it happened). Another incident happened one night when our client was home alone. Occasionally he states he hears muffled voices in the house even when he's the only one home. This happened when he was downstairs in the basement and he said he was upset because he couldn't figure out where the voices were coming from so he started swearing at them to shut up. The voices stopped and then as he was walking out of the room he felt heat from what felt like two hands and he was shoved in his chest so hard it knocked him back and down to the floor.

Apparitions have been seen in the home too. The step daughter has seen one of an older man holding a little girl by the neck and the girl had bruises on her; another time she saw a man and a woman and they seemed to be arguing. The owner has seen a white figure go pass one of the bedroom doors and at another time what appeared to be an apparition of a woman from the chest, up. At one point before our client or his wife was owner of the property, the house stood vacant for a while and supposedly two people who were walking past the house outside saw someone standing in one of the upstairs windows. As stated before, voices are heard throughout the house, both by our client and the step daughter. The owner's wife has heard footsteps going up and down the stairs even though she was the only one home. Their pets appear to be affected by the activity as well: one of their cats supposedly doesn't like to be held and at times will come flying down from upstairs, meowing loudly and run to one of the owners as if it was scared. Their dog will also bark loudly at what appears to be nothing, especially in the upstairs bedroom where a lot of the activity takes place.

On the other side of the duplex, our client has heard an angry voice say "get out", but he was the only one there at the time. The friend who lives on that side of the duplex has also heard what sounded like a female laughing. Things have also moved in that location to places where they wouldn't normally have been placed. The owner has also done EVP session in the home and had quite a few results from that.

TCPS had four members present for this investigation due to the size of the location. A group of two members were on each side of the duplex throughout the night. Neither the owner nor any of his family was home at the time. Our client’s friend who lives on the other side of the duplex was on the property, but stayed in her room throughout the duration of the investigation.

During the first round of the night, the group investigating our client’s side of the house found high EMF readings in the step daughter’s room. The only “activity” experienced in this room was a supposed response on the EMF meter when the question was asked of “do you want us to leave” and the EMF meter lit up. Interestingly enough, this same experience happened to the other group while investigating this room later on during the investigation. This question was the only question asked that got a response that night on the EMF meters.

While investigating the owner’s bedroom (which is in the basement), all four members heard what sounded like footsteps coming from the main floor of our client’s house. Two of the members immediately ran upstairs to see if perhaps the owner came inside for something and found the entire house to be empty. High EMF readings were also found throughout the client’s bedroom/basement.
No activity or experiences were noted from the investigation of the other side of the duplex.

Final Analysis

Aside from hearing footsteps from the basement, no other personal experiences happened during our investigation of this site. The EMF “responses” in the step daughter’s bedroom very well could have just been caused by the high EMF in the room to begin with. We did, however, find one EVP from this room and this was the only one from our investigation of this site.

Based on the lack of evidence and experiences, we can not at this time state that this location is haunted. The client states the family is planning on moving due to work reasons in early to mid 2009, so it is doubtful that our team will be called in again for another investigation. We are always more than happy to do a return to this site and will let you know if this should occur.
